The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) issued Ordinance No. 1617, prohibiting the use of certain antimicrobials for growth promotion. The regulation affects Phibro's virginiamycin and bacitracin products. A 180-day transition period is in effect, allowing continued sale and use of current products. Phibro is in the final stages of securing therapeutic-use registrations for virginiamycin in cattle and broiler chickens. The company's bacitracin product already holds therapeutic claims in Brazil. Phibro is launching 'PhibroVet', a digital platform to manage veterinary prescriptions required under the new framework.
