Cardiff Oncology is currently in a legal dispute with Nerviano Medical Sciences (NMS) regarding a 2017 license agreement. NMS claims the company breached the agreement by failing to name an NMS employee as a joint inventor on two Cardiff patents. NMS further alleges the company failed to use commercially reasonable efforts in the development and regulatory approval process for onvansertib. On May 27, 2026, NMS notified the company of its intent to terminate the agreement. Cardiff Oncology maintains that the termination notice is legally ineffective and procedurally improper, and intends to continue performance under the agreement.
